Seem to remember Bill McLaren mentioning mauls.

Bill McLaren's pronunciation would introduce yet another variant!

Bill was the best!

I've got his autobiography, but haven't got around to reading it yet.

I remember him frequently describing dodgy kicks at goal as "like one of my seven irons", and I believe that, when arthritis had fixed his hand in a closed position, he refused treatment because it "improved my golf grip".

They don't make them like Bill any more!
