Strictly for those who have done this crossword. Is the correct last letter of 42a 't' or 'd'? Thanks

"t", it corresponds to the 1sr of the 2 words formed from the extra letters.

I had a T at first but thought it odd that it was the only entry that was synonymous with the first of the two. With a D it's synonymous with all the others according to Chambers. How can you be sure which is right?

OK. I see. There has to be a synonym for the first. That is the only one, isn't it? Did I miss something?

Hi aristo, I'm assuming you're just looking for confirmation with a rhetorical question.
I read the preamble as 2 of the unclueds were specific synonyms for the 2 words made from the extra letters which I take to be 42a and 11d respectively and they then "explain/suggest" the other unclueds.

Meant to add, and with a "t" both past tense which squares with the preamble "how they are supplied".

Ginge I thought that bit was clever, I had a "d" and changed it to a "t" once I got the two words, then it all fitted and timely too.

Hi teenieleek, I'm not a regular with "the speccie" I've done a couple after initially downloading purely as a result of noticing an unanswered query on the forum and basically being a nosey ba....... I quite enjoyed the ones I've done but just when I was looking forward to a regular Thursday morning treat I met with "download limit exceeded for the month" so it's a case of as and when. In this case I agree it came together neatly in the end.
