Evening all,
I can't pick a winner yet as I'm struggling to parse the following:
Paul - Post 7
Imagcq - Posts 17+18
Syzzie - Posts 23+24 (I'm missing part of this)

If the posters aren't available, anyone feel free to add their take on these.
I'll be back later

Hi Les, as half an hour has elapsed and you have no takers yet, here's my slant;

Re paul and imagcq. The "effect" is the delay in perception and the means Stroop used "the test" was colour. This has been replicated many times, again most often with colour but the "effect" is also apparent in black and white when the font is varied, ie wobbly letters, size, italics, blurred letters etc and as the only medium available to us is b&w I think both clues are attempting to replicate this and imagcq has attempted to use the highlighters available here using square brackets. However, I may well be way out.
Re syzygy I parse it as;
poor reversed (reaction?) in TE [Egypt ET also reversed (backward)] + FF (very loud)
(All the above) contained within (has) sect (splinter group), the 1st part being the definition.
