I have a full grid, the three-word phrase and the setter's personal observation. What I do not see is how the twelve theme words represent "imaginary scenarios"; furthermore, what is the "exercise in futility", and why is one of the theme words foreign?

The theme words form six pairings as per the three word phrase. One of The pairing would be futile.
One theme word is Dutch.

I too have a full grid but am struggling with the thematic definitions of which I think I have five. Any little help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Vin

Hi djawhufc, I too am not quite there yet. Having trouble with the 36-letter observation of the setter. I have the last 5 words (5,8,1,3,4), but not the beginning of the phrase. Could you please give me the letter breakdown of the whole phrase? Thanks in advance.

Thanks djawhufc, got it now. Had two incorrect superfluous letters. Now it's the 3-word phrase - still missing something here. Could you help me with the letter breakdown of this phrase?
