I followed a tip I got, and deleted all my History, then scanned with Malwarebytes, and so far it has not returned.

Malwarebytes is brilliant. It is worth paying for.

At one time there was no real problem with malware for Apple pruducts simply because the majority of people used PCs which ran using Windows, so it wasn't really worth hackers wasting time and effort developing malware that was only applicable to a very small percentage of hardware, but with the advent of iphones, pads etc coupled with the fact that Macbooks etc are relatively much cheaper than they used to be the problem is becoming much more prevalent so it's worth getting some sort of antivirus on any of your gadgets.

Help! I've been busy all day and have only just looked at this thread, I'm confused - was it an pop-up 'ad' appertaining to be from Java that alerted to this threat?
I'm asking because I've been getting a repeated message along the bottom bar on my desk-top, telling me to update to the latest Java. Is this the same thing that Ron and Linda got, - or just a coincidence? This is normally how I get to do such updates, but on this occasion it didn't work? Getting worried now......

Yes, was just thinking I should do that...the problem is that this is the 'usual' way I'm asked to do updates - but it seems just too much of a coincidence, doesn't it, that it's happened today when other folk are having problems with Java?
Going to run scan, back in a bit........

BTW, what IS all this about waterfalls............??/!!!!
