Thanks for everyone's help so far. There are two that are not working terror and transmute. Could terror be horror? How did u get that. And how how did u get transmute.

For the one about the last merchant i have

Unless that last letter is wrong. How did u come up with redeemed?

Horror is better.
I think the clue should read
Fear home of readin' 'ritin' or 'rithmetic, primarily (6)
First letter of each word

Thanks then that would fit. Can transmute be transpose instead?
