Ok so finished the crossword with "in a self willed manner" could only it "waywardly" in there, has anyone got anything else? As I fail to see how "waywardly" works with the clue???

What letters and spaces do you have?

Waywardly is probably right though. It means (as an adjective) self willed or unpredictable.
