Goodness me! That has certainly brought weather reports from all areas! Well here in N. Dorset we still have sunshine & no sign of thunder & lightning .... which is just as well as Shaftesbury has its Town Festival today! I've been hearing about local schools celebrating D-Day yesterday & a group of youngsters singing "Keep the Homefires burning" which is now going round & round in my head"

I know it. If you start the "Tolkien walk" in the right place, you can arrive there half way round (for lunch).

Weather reports have now turned into pub crawls (almost!!)

It has to be more than one pub for it to be a crawl, redcoral.



Of course, there is the Bailey's Arms up the road and the other one (Eagle and Child?) next door............

Our family always used to give directions for strangers by naming the pubs i.e. turn left at the George and dragon. Then turn right at the Malsters Arms........

I was right with Eagle and Child, but it's Bayley, not Bailey)

Straight on until you reach the Royal oak...

Ours too, jazzy, though my wife's family's directions tended to involve churches as well.
