11. Bolero, a waistcoat. Bole, on a tree/elder+ or, yellow ('about' means reversed, so 'ro')

1Down is an anagram, Dumpynose usually has lots.
33. Yes Siren - a hooter (noisy) and Delilah, a temptress
35. Otic - hidden in the clue.

Mythmakers is wrong - there's only one other word that'll fit I think.

I don't think 'litoral' is correct.

Hi. Can some nice person please explain the preamble to this crossword .... 2163 : Muscle.
I am completely stumped on 7a, 8d, and 12d.

It's hard to paraphrase the reasoning for the theme - and how the title fits in - but there's a lot of information on the other Spectator thread (it'll come up if you go to the Search box).
Hope that helps - my explanations are often rubbish!

8 Yule, a big feast. Yu is jade and the 'le' comes from 'Lunch Enormous' (the clue says 'starts to')
12. Litter, offspring, has the 'r' removed (run off) and an 'l' for lecturer put in. Little= young.
