Good morning R.Timers,
After a good night's sleep I realise where I was going wrong last night.! Instead of hitting the 'Reply' key I used the 'new thread'..hence the confusion when I couldn't reach you.! Senior moments eh..? Despite that I've had some good advice from another kind Puzzler..(Check the Forum, you'll see what I mean.! Miserable weather today, no gardening I'm afraid. Best wishes to you ALL..R.

Good Morning Raymond
Good to see you. We don't mind where you post, as we will spot you !. Pleased that you had help. I tried to reply earlier via iPad, but those dreadful games app. adverts took over the whole screen and I have had to give up and revert to laptop. I have reported to admin. but it seems that no one else has reported, although two other forum members have mentioned it. Have a good day. No gardening here as the ground is too wet from the rain last night. Best wishes. Jg

No adverts here: https://adblockplus.org/en/ is your friend.

Anyway, a tough one this week, I think. Am I right to think that 10a starts with a C and ends in double-S?

Who is (the) US woman in 1d, someone specific, or a more general sense? Anagram of NEED for the last four letters, perhaps?

Also need hints for 8a and 6d. Thanks all...

Andy

10a. Does what you said.
6d. Is a provider of beef and a word for conduct although more of a driving term
8a. Hadn't heard of this material until I googled it. Girl's name although a bit old fashioned (e.g. Famous author)
