Ari, I wonder if they will play any of my cousin's recordings. He is more into brasilian jazz nowadays, but loads of his old stuff on youtube

It's sunny here in Devon and I have loads to do in the garden, having had to go to the dentist this morning.
I've just come in for a coffee and can see #4.

Here is my stab at them.

1. Deputy Dog finally settled (8)- STANDING?
Stand in – Deputy + G- Dog finally – gives standing – settled?

2. Contrived to be top prison (5)- HOKEY?
Chokey is slang for prison and “topped” gives Hokey – contrived?

3. Subtly begin to boast about oneself down under (3-4)- BIG-NOTE? Anagram of “begin to” gives big note- Oz slang for boasting about oneself?

4. A hoax about party returns (3)- COD?
C=- about and Do – party, returning, gives Cod – a hoax?

5. Light like a flowered material of silk and wool (6) – LAMPAS?
Light – lamp + like – as gives Lampas – in Chambers as “flowered material of silk and wool”?

This is my attempt can't really parse 3 or 5 though:

2)choky
3)ego-trip
4)cod
5)mohair

Sorry to say, I have only two to offer and I'm not sure of #5 !

4. cod (hoax) about = c; party = do (reversed)
5. damask ?
