Hi paul, would you (or anyone else) please parse your clue @ 23. It's quite possibly me failing to see something obvious or clever but might you have made a mistake. So far I come up with
Chinaman's = mau's (perhaps Mao's?) + um = hesitation round ole (perhaps hola).
Apologies if I'm doing you a disservice but I'd hate to exclude your entry as a result of my stupidity!
