Thank you I had that originally but changed it because I got LIFEGUARD for "Swimmer has protection in Welsh port" (9) which gave me the F now a S

Thank you. I don't make the connection with "in Welsh port" and now my answer for "It comes between one landing and the next" (6) is wrong. I had LEAPER hence the L now an F (no other letters available)

OK I got it FLIGHT but still don't make the connection with "in welsh port"

I could be completely wrong here, Brian - i'm not very good at cryptic crosswords, but am hopefully learning as I go along!

I thought...'fish ' is a swimmer and 'guard' is protection - and' Fishguard' is a Welsh port.
