I was stuck on a couple of clues today, but have left my copy at work and can't remember the clues exactly. I think one was 1a and said something about cast before start of play. T?S?
The other was ?A?S?N and was an across clue on the right hand side about halfway down, but I can't remember a thing about the clue. Does anyone know which ones I mean, and what the answers are, please?

Or is it Tosca

Tos(s) before CA -(about)/ Play = Tosca

Les is correct with the first one TOSS

The other one is WATSON

I was completely on the wrong track with this one. I was looking for a word that ended with P.

I cant because like you i no longer have the paper, I left it in the library where i found it. (I am a big fan of Conan doyle's and so remember the answer.)
