22 D. I went with 'merome' - only because of the 'see' in the clue. 'See' could lead to Rome - but if it was to be 'some' because of 'a bit', 'see' is doing nothing.

answer to 28 across is likely Azrail, which would confirm merome, so well done all.S.

30 Ac. Voluntary working? So "not splendid" TV may show (7) I have UN?OY?L which suggests 'unroyal'. I cannot parse it. If royalties are not payable, is the work 'unroyal'? Is the TV reference to the 'Royle family'?

I didn't really understand this clue/answer - but 'unroyal' is an anagram of the letters left after taking 'tv' out of 'voluntary'.

Thanks Malone, didn't see the subtractive anagram, but not one of Don Manley's best, I think.
