Em.... a tad early perhaps, aristo?
Had
1) Object about wrongdoers being supported. (8)- ENDORSED?
Object- end , around “doers” wrong gives endorsed- supported?

2) Promptly forward, after that trouble. (2/3/4)
ON THE NAIL?
Forward- on, after that – then with ail- trouble gives On the nail- promptly?

3) Colonist out east settles in with determination, sometimes (14)
INTERMITTENTLY?
Colonist – termite without e, with intently (with determination) gives intermittently – sometimes?

4) Knife-edge event has villain finally going to ground (4/5) NEAR THING?
Villain finally – n + earthing gives near thing – knife edge event?

This gives EDOLIYNG- YODELING?
Thanks imagcq.

Sincere apologies! As soon as I'd posted I checked to see whether it had worked, since I have so much trouble with the site. I saw with a flash of horror that it said 18:00, and realized that we'd moved our clocks forward yesterday and you hadn't (you're usually five hours ahead, and now you're four). Then I couldn't get back on again. I'll give it another go....

And another..... Too bad it actually worked at the wrong time.

Thought that might be the case as Daylight Saving Day was yesterday in US (think it's 30th March in UK, so more fun then).

Ha ha , Mr A, how very appropriate: you have to stay in the naughty corner or on the step for one minute for every year of your age!
