I think it's actually Teepee - a variation of 'tepee' and, as said, every other letter (ThEpEoPlElE)

Hi Crackabilly, I'm not doing this but is this a puzzle that has clues with an extra letter?
If so, a synonym for "on and off" in the reading should help.

Ignore the bit about the extra letter, should have gone to Specsavers.
