I looked 'meme' up online, and I guess it could be the answer? Definition is : an image , index, piece of text (typ. humerous in nature) copied and spread by Internet users, often with slight variation.
But it isn't in my COD - don't you find it somewhat disconcerting that so many words used online don't appear in the standard dictionaries?!

MEME in Chambers (which is what the setter uses) shows it as a question on the internet :)
