23a. Free admission to all wards for one bringing heavy tackle (8,4) - HOSPITAL PASS (I think) Why 'heavy tackle'?

44a. Not resting so much, as not yet a saint? (7) - BLESSED Why 'not resting'?

20d. The law for example became aware of false claim (7,10) - LEARNED PROFESSION (The law) I can't work out the 'false claim' part.

26d. Small theatre boss's narrow success (6) - STUDIO (Small theatre) I think it's STUD = Boss and then part of a word (narrow) meaning 'Success' but I can't work out which.

31d. Manipulative type gets out-of-date medicine finally changed (6) - I think it's PHYSIO (Manipulative type) PHYSIC 'finally changed' but I can't work out the 'Out-of-date' part.

less in bed - blessed is the name given to a saint yet to be ordained.
1-0 i.e. narrow win in football for example.

20d became aware - learned, false claim - profession (
an open but often false declaration or claim).
