Nope, just don't want to waste time looking at posts that have no relevance to my concerns. And suggesting correct subject lines is not moaning.

Just to put you straight as you are so clever MerryPhil - the Online Version via The Times Crossword Club have this Jumbo Crossword with the heading Times2 Jumbo 593.

Perhaps you have missed the fact that The TImes uses TWO numbering systems for their crosswords.

Dolly may have started off badly but she did not require your snotty know it all reply.

I find the references to time wasted interesting - it takes but one click to realise which Crossword it is that's all....Puzzlers need patience and I cannot see how that takes too much time in the big scheme of things.

Once you have clicked, why not just have a stab at an answer whilst there.

i've spent time on more than one occasion trying to cryptically solve a clue before realising that it is a straight clue. as for giving half a clue with no indication that it is not the full clue, the mind boggles.
interesting to see that most of merryphils detractors are names rarely, if ever, seen on this forum.

I wholeheartedly agree that the right heading is best for everyone and of course the full details too, my other pet annoyance is when Quizzes are asked with no title and an obscure heading.

I think my trouble (if that is what it is) is that I tend not to moan, just carry on regardless.

I have also wasted time thinking cryptically when the clue is straight.
However, I hope this does not put Dolly off using the forum because on the whole we are a friendly bunch who enjoy helping to solve either kind of crossword.
So no more cross words!

I didn't read anything 'snotty' nor any suggestion of superiority in Merryphil's post regarding headings.

The point is surely that the Jumbo Cryptic and the Times 2 Jumbo are two different crosswords, albeit ones occupying the same grid.

If I need help with the Times Jumbo Cryptic, then I will not click on a post with the heading Irish Times XXXX. I would much rather view a post that is relating to the crossword which I am tackling at the time.

As for it only being a mere click to discover that a post relates to the Times 2 Jumbo, that is all well and good if you happen to have a decent internet connection.

I happen to live in the boondocks on top of the southern end of the Pennines and only rarely does my download speed creep above 0.5Mb/s and as evidence for my endless debates with BT, I have recorded screenshots showing download speeds as low as 0.01Mb/s. What this means in reality is that my one click on a post entitled Times Jumbo XXXX can on occasion take anything up to a minute or so to resolve itself into a readable page. It is frustrating when this turns out to be for a different crossword.

So yes, from a purely selfish point of view, I would agree with Merryphil an would like contributors to identify the subject of their posts accurately.

After all, it only requires them to add an extra space and the number 2 in the title.
