Hi everyone and especially chrise,
Regretfully, a retrospective look only. It was well worth waiting for chrise, as Bunnahabhain or any single malt normally is, there are no bad ones in my opinion. I have been fortunate to have had access to some of the Islay distilleries when they were privately owned and output was less commercial, CaƓl ila in particular was an eye opener. Given a choice, I'd pour a laughing frog "Laphroaig" or "Macallan" before most though.

Hi ginge
Actually there are a couple I don't like. I can't get on with Aberlour, and Glenfiddich isn't better than many blends, in my opinion.
I'm sorry you couldn't join in.
Caol Ila is amazing, but the finest I've ever had was a Glenlivet that my father had from the Malt Whisky Society.

Hi mate,
glad you caught my post. Each to their own but at least, thanks to marketing, we have choices. I remember the days when Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie seemed to be the only known options outwith Scotland. What i can't understand is why Royal Salute, without doubt as good a blend as is possible , is valued so highly both in terms of taste and value, any idea yourself?
