'Boss' can mean 'excellent' and 'stellar' can mean 'excellent' so it seemed to work fine for me without any space stuff.

That certainly sounds better and a quick check in Chambers confirms. Stellar seemed the answer and the only connection to Boss (google stellar and Boss) seemed to be the "space stuff".

AB, 'Without any space stuff' was just my shorthand for paraphrasing your info - sorry if it looked/sounded dismissive!
I twigged boss/stellar/excellent when I realised the ! after 'boss' was there for a reason (an ejaculation).

Could this be Tolbooth? Hot - furious (about) + to lob change - tolbooth where you might "lob change"?
