palpitate?

"Pound" isn't quite right as def.
PAL (friend) then PATE (loaf?) around IT

Pound is in my thesaurus as synonym for palpitate

I hope that when a doctor palpitates my chest, "pound" isn't in her mind!

If your heart was pounding it would be palpitating somewhat :)
