yeah I reckon it's dislike.

I prefer 'despite' - defined in Chambers as 'violent malice or hatred'. 'Dislike' can be defined as 'disinclination; aversion; distaste; disapproval'.
'Dislike' seems less hostile than 'despite' - though I could be wrong (I often am!).

hostility also has the milder sounding synonyms aversion and distaste, along with grudge and ill will.
dislike can mean hatred, loathing disgust and repugnance.
only the setter really knows. we'll have to wait and see!

"Despite" is more obviously a noun than "dislike" (to match the noun "hostility"), though I suppose one can have "a dislike" of something.

i've rarely actually heard 'despite' used as a noun, i always thought it was a bit archaic (isn't it normally a preposition? i am useless at that sort of thing).
dislike as a noun is very commonly used, surely?

I dislike(verb) crosswords where there is obviously more than one answer, but despite(conjunction) that I still do them :)

I didn't really make myself clear, there. "Despite" has two quite different meanings. Despite that (one meaning) I have a despite of (other meaning) lack of clarity (!)
