Too much fizzy wine I think, would like help to parse.

52a Group on course for Oxford briefly find the shortest way, by plane. (5,6)

Great Circle, I presume.

45a Member of Ordinariate may be expecting deep suspicion at first, but goes over. (7)

Exceeds ?

Like to know how they work fully.

A course at Oxford is Greats so a group on that course would be a Greats Circle, briefly - Great Circle- the shortest way by plane?

so Great(s) circle (group) - a bit weak I think.

I also have exceeds but cannot parse....

This is a long shot but would a member of the ordinariate be Ex CE + expecting deep suspicions at first- eds giving exceeds?

Yes. The RC church has established the "ordinariate" to receive Anglican clergy who are leaving the CofE because, already troubled by the ordination of women, are even more so over the prospect of women bishops. Effectively they are being accepted as RC priests.
