25 across - I have plainness (not even sure if this is a word?? - the clue is rather ordinary.

Tha clue you give has 8 letters but plainness has 9 letters. (That is why it's most important to give the number of letters if they're given). "plainest" would fir your given letters but this would not really be rather ordinary.
