Thank you all for your good wishes- funnily enough that's what my elder son said, sallyw.
The cake was made by 3 year old William and his Mum- I'll always remember his little face as he proudly carried it in singing, and handing round the plates with the pieces of cake so carefully. It's so good to teach children that sometimes it is someone else's birthday! He helped ice the cake as well.
I went to Abingdon for tea and onto the roof of the Town Hall, and then into the (mediaeval) Abbey. We had tea overlooking the river Thames on a nice secluded and shady terrace.
Afterwards had a brilliant Chinese with my family and several glasses of Prosecco.
Altogether a really lovely day, warmed by all your good wishes
