It was a grid I successfully completed some time ago. I needed one last word. I had 2 letters: _ L _ E (underscores showing the missing letters). The daily online lovatt cryptic allows a person to just key in letters at the end as it automatically comes up with a completion screen when the grid has been successfully completed.
The answer turned out to be 'BLUE'.
The clue was 'Argument with redhead'.
I cannot see how the answer is arrived at.
There is a band called BLEU who had an album called redhead. A friend thinks argument=row=rower=blue (someone who rows for either Oxford University or Cambridge University).
Does anyone know how we get from the clue to the answer?
All help much appreciated.
