38d Improvised performance is fast, with sound turned up about start of show.
'Session' is clear, but is it 'rap' or 'jam' for the fast part?

Where did you find a definition of jam as to fast, Shooty? I have been unable to find one. To stick fast, but not to fast!

My apologies, I retract my nonsense as I can't account for the missing 'S' either.

Not nonsense, Shooty - it is possibly a faulty clue!

My head is spinning from looking for definitions to 'SPAR, RAPS and JAMS'
All to no avail. : (
Hope someone comes up with a feasible answer soon.

I have jam session for this clue. To 'jam' something is to make fast or immovable. With noises reversed and 's' for 'start of show'.
