I have two clues which cross each other, one of
which I've solved, However, there seems to be
one too many "E's" left over to make perfect sense,
This refers to 23 Down, the clue for which is:-
"Supposed, over long period, maiden put out
would be mollified".
This should be "assumed" around "age", with "m"
removed to arrive at "assuaged", Nevertheless, it
would appear, in doing this, one would end up
with "assuageed"!! So, is this an error in the clue?
The other clue, which I HAVEN'T solved, is:-
36 Ac. - "Report of girl at university, trying to look
attractive". (4,2) I have -A-E UP - make up?

Hi rocketman, we have the same problem with the assuaged clue. Did you ever find out how the cryptic part of the clue works? We suspect an error but it's a bit surprising so we could well be wrong!
Thanks!

Hello, bw99 - Just seen your enquiry, so apologies
for coming back a bit late. I've no other explanation
than it being an error by the setter.
