24d "One's passed by majority"(5) The answer must be "Adult", but why ? Yes, I know majority=adult , but one's passed by ? Had it said reached instead of passed by it would make sense. Anyone able to explain, or is it just a very bad clue ?

not totally sure that majority=adult. the 'age of majority' is when someone becomes classed as an adult so it's when you gone past this age?

Majority is in Chambers as "full age" (earlier defined under "major" as 18 in UK) So one who has "passed by" the full age would be, by definition. an adult?

What letters did you have ?

mamya - I did indeed have the letters you mention, so I'm pretty sure we have the answer, but I think by the replies to this thread a lot of you perhaps agree with me that it ain't a very good clue!!--
