As no other answer has been given Les, I can only see 'AC' (acoount/bill) inside 'A BUS' (passenger).
but surely a passenger is the traveller and a bus is the conveyor. If this is the correct parse (and I very much doubt it) It is not a good clue. Hopefully someone will enlighten us.

I'm in the same way of thinking Shooty and still can't get 'A bus' from passenger

Thanks AB for the Latin lesson, I did look it up but it didn't give that, so i thought of checking on here. it gives something totally different on Google Translate.

A few tricky ones this week in this grid chaps

Oh, forgot to mention, n 3d, is the 'writer's tough' in the middle of the clue redundant

Comic actor = (Oliver) Hardy
tough = Hard + Y (year)

Is it a triple and referring to Thomas Hardy? If so, why the first 'tough' in the clue?
