All done now as that extra letter from 23a has given me the Nymph. :)

The error was mine as I haven't got the crossword. It is a 9 letter anagram, whatever the number. I gather you only wanted a hint.

Quite enjoyed this week's. Took a while for the penny to drop about the foxtrot coming after the nymph, but got there in the end. Hope the rest of you enjoy it too.

I`ve been stuck today - not on the same ones as other people. If I had a hint for 5d and 6d I might get the second word of 11ac. Please !
Tomorrow I shall be the same age exactly as Bruce Forsyth - so much for astrology ! Mags.

Hi Mags
Happy Birthday and many more to come !
5d definition is a setback (bit of a b???)
6d definition is "unsettling sound" ( in floorboards?) sounds like a bay (water) Hope this helps a bit. J

Thank you, Jazzgirl. I did think of that word for 6d but couldn`t reconcile a narrow thing with a bay. I began to think it might be the sound of a dog ! Mags,
