Thank you AB, Chelle and Rossim, I thought ace but it doesn't fit as I have E as second letter, got this from the following clue..

I think it is ACE and LEARN DRIVER.

TRAIN DRIVER would be better, I think!

I prefer train as they (did) have firemen.

If learn driver is answer I don't see the connection with fireman's boss. Tricky.
