Really like 10 dn, chris e; 47 ac (though that's one I had help with) ab and 44 dn (Mr A.)
Learned at least 3 new words.
Pastille!! Will never look the same way at a carrot again. Though I believe the best ones are made of glass, however improbable that seems.

Thanks for the mention, though, as bullfrog pointed out, there are actually two solutions - for some reason I think of the second in the phrase as a county in its own right and forget about the town (city?)
Difficult to pick favourites from so many excellent clues, but I'm going for BBM2's 42across and AB's 47across as well.

Liked the simplicity of 34A, the economy of 23D, 37A, 27A, all of peterm's and several more that I probably forgot to circle.

So many , but really liked 47a ,23d and 5d
