Although my grid is almost full I'm still struggling with the theme and some unclued lights. I am missing letters in 1d
H?E?O?A?E?I?AN - must be ? american
I have artichoke ,sage and oak for 3 of the unclued??
Stuck on 26d Pub hiring outside singer ?A?N?TE

have corrected 30a so the letter sfor 1d are now H?E?O?A?Y?I?AN
and for 28d I now have ?I?N?TE

Have you put an extra letter in 26 D? It has only six letters, and yours look correct!
The other, long word, doesn't end 'american'.

Have just realised you have one letter wrong in 1 D - it's not an 'a' at the 7th cell.

Sorry the clue would read singerS.

Must wear my specs - of course 26d is only 6 letters!

The only word i can find that fits the top clue ( assuming it's one word ) is HIEROSOLYMITAN meaning relating to Jerusalem. As no clue was given I have no idea if it is correct or not.

That's right Rossim - no clue is given for 1d but the unclued lights are all connected to "Jerusalem" hence artichoke, oak etc
