Thea, I don't think 'busy' or 'plod'(for police/policeman) are in common use at all nowadays, but words live on for many years in crosswordland.

The youth of today have gone transatlantic and use the charming sobriquet "feds" for our boys in blue .
I first came across "bizzy" in Merseyside/Manchester tv dramas and have heard it used on the streets of my native Newcastle.
Whilst I'm aware of "plod" I've never actually heard it used .
There are of course other terms used to describe the constabulary ...
