Could anyone help with a couple od parses, is one thing knowing (hopefully) you are right - but like to know why.

36a Resistance sustained by food's held out [7]
Answer - Offered , can see 'R' for resistance and fed for sustained and then grind to a halt.

48a Restaurants bitter over the right to close early [9]
Answer Trattorie - Bitter = Tart (over) but the rest is unclear.
