Hi folks not so much looking for answers wondering if anyone can give me bit of help how to do cryptic clues i can do ones in sunday mail and sme easy ones but ones in this mag bafffle me like 13a(6) made fast, low and brightly coloured and 10a(6) attract close listener and 4d(5) order somewhat unpredictable .I just have no clue where to begin so any pointers would be great.

the definition parts of the clues are;
13a made fast (brightly coloured is just the name of a colour)
10a attract
4d order

endear = attract
listener = ear
close = end
In the English language words can have several different meanings so you have to think outside the box sometimes.

Thanks folks and andyc will defo look at that website determined to broaden my mind to more difficult crosswords etc.One clue i had was loud thespian is an influence would answer be fellow ?.

I'd check out POSTING TIPS when you ask for help so that you present your clues clearly, leaving one line per clue and using double spacing.

Some people ask for tips, others answers. I would ask for answers and then work back and decipher the clue to see how it was done. If you don't get it come back - most of us are learning.

loud = F (music)
think of another word for a thespian to go after F.
