Is there a theme to this? MACHAIR fits the second - sounds like Mac (chief) air (steward???) - coastal fine turf in Northern Scotland (def. not included)

I found rhizocarp, mamya, but it can't be a fern - ferns don't have seeds (which "carp" implies)
