they are great answers and I'm really grateful, do you think headstrong is wilful? I had it earlier but deleted it as the other clue for erased I thought was deleted

certainly could be wilful -does it fit with the cross checkers? Haven't got the crossword myself to look at.

lindal, yes, it fits, I've finished that corner, my word I had wrong was 'deleted', the correct entry is 'effaced' and the word down for comfort is regale, I could have finished this easily earlier on, but I got held up with friends so my train of thought went out the window, thank you both for your input, mamya, the link was a bonus to back up an answer
