One sleeper having cover blown in Paris never one to blow another's cover! (7) P------?
I think the 3rd letter is C. Any ideas?

The answer to 1a is PYJAMAS. It must be as I have P*J*M*S and if there is another word to fit those letters (apart from the US spelling)then I haven't heard of it.

I confess I cannot see all the subsidiary indication, and am never happy putting in an answer when this is the case; but it can't be anything else. I am probably overlooking something obvious and if anyone can help explain it, I will be grateful.
