For 38A I had no hesitation putting Ordnance Survey in for "OS in full" and after that eveything went chaotic. Sloppy clue! Also two typos in today's clues: In 3D "fro" instead of "for" was obvious, but I spent ages on trying to decipher "metal of glass" in 52A until I realised "of" was a typo for "or". Was this just me, or should we be giving this feedback to the Times compiler on behalf of quite a few of us?

I too confused by typos and ambiguities. Why not let them know they (the Times) it's sloppy. Re: 52a. Is the answer 'furnacing' I have ??N?A?ING, which makes the 'N' wrong.

Rosalind. Thank you so much. Yes, have heard the term although it's seldom used in speech or text (except crosswords}? Thanks again.

Janebb....no, no I'm not rambler in disguise, though that's very clever response to my post about typos with just one letter changed. "Rumbler" was just meant to have a low-profile (low frequency) behind-the-scenes image. Also never intended it to be associated with "grumbling" really.

Thanks for reply, curiosity put to rest. See quite a lot of 'RAMBLER' postings but it now appears we have a new Rumbler with a low profile?
