Hello everyone. I am stuck on the furniture maker clue and the vicar one. Cant remember the numbers but the one crosses the other. Otherwise more or less finished.

It is cold here and I foolishly planted out some begonia tubers which, after the storm on Monday, have had it!!

hello Mondrian
Sorry to hear bout your begonias!
1d Vicar to bolster soldiers (5)
Answer is a synonym for Vicar. (The soldiers are Royal Engineers (initials)
6a Furniture-maker rested among the trees(9)
(It is a kind of wood used to make furniture)
Hope this will help.

Oh! so very obvious when one has the answer for the furniture maker. I do watch quite enough antique roadshow type programmes to have known that! Thank you Jazzgirl The vicar clue will come too,
