Im very cofused. Have done quite a lot of the clues buit have loads of clashes how many should there be please? How do you decide which letter to use? I have no idea about the quote because all the clues I have are to far apart to make any sense. Thanks in advance.

Sorry Tony, but i still cannot get the answer to 29 d. although I have the letters s - o n e I have looked everywhere in Chambers without avail and I am afraid that the explanation and hints given in the answerbank mystify me.

If you look diagonally from NW to NE you should see a 'last battle' The forces of this are also hidden in the grid in two 4 letter words placed symmetrically. This will give you the 18 letters to be highlighted.
The word to be entered below the grid was spelled out in chrisg's post.

Thank you Tony I have found the letters to be highlighted and now just have a few more clues in the top R to do. They are certainly complicated xwrods arent they?
