Welcome to CLUE CHAIN - usually started each Monday around noon.

The idea is to start with a cryptic clue - set by me this week.

The first correct solver, judged by the setter, is then invited to offer their clue and so on.

The person who solves the first clue starts the next CLUE CHAIN (Next Monday) - please confirm you will do this.

Once you have solved and then set a clue you cannot enter again, although you can still comment.

UNTIL

15 min time limit per clue and if not solved the setter must declare the clue 'open' and everybody can play again.

Game usually closes around 6:00 p.m.

This week's opening clue is:

Spice Rod has to sprinkle over Japanese bread (7,6)

hi Les
That's a brilliant clue and I have the answer, but cannot start next week.(and I'm useless at giving clues.)
Happy Easter (what's left of it) and hope there's someone out there. :0)

OK aristo,

I will just let you all know that 'Rod' is only capitalised for effect

Perhaps we're all reluctant to commit (by answering first). What a world. :)

You may as well give the answer Jazzgirl, if you can't start next week, we'll give it to the next solver.
if you can't set a clue, I will set another

Well done Jazzgirl, Run with the torch

Spice = Cayenne pepper

rod = cane + sprinkle = pepper
over (surrounding) Japanese bread/money = yen
