CONTEMNER! Do you have 7a or 7d? I suspect the latter might be WRIT; then the former must be WE?E.Clues for those without:

Great, Terry! And can you see for 28d which is supposed to be correct: STIE or STYE? As far as I can see they're equally legitimate!

Tye (or tie) are both listed in Chambers as pasture.

That's what I meant! So really "they" ought to accept either/both, as it has no relevance to the rest?! Another case of unintended ambiguity, as they always say................

On further thought I've gone with STYE as it is the main spelling with STIE being 'rarely used'.
