Gilda Radner was a member of SNL:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Live

One of her characters was Roseanne Roseannadanna, who was a little deaf. She would do a long commentary on the editorial in a news show, but had misheard a crucial word. Eventually the anchor would whisper to her what the actual topic was. She would stop, smile & say "Never mind!"

Hilarious stuff. Unfortunately, haven't found a good clip, but check Youtube.

Don't worry about the Joint Effort. You'll need some recuperation time & everyone can wait. Not like there's a shortage of puzzles out there.
I'll keep 'em amused with a tough Harper's.

Take care.

Thank you for the kind words Trevor, yesterday went really well...

We all celebrate the life of a talented and amazing woman.

And you are right, the Waterboys would have been an excellent addition to the playlist.

Thinking of you Les and hoping you'll soon be feeling much better.

A trip to the Dentist is much feared by yours truly - but it's a necessary evil when the pain is as bad as yours was.

Trevor, I'm sure I'm a lot older than you, but when I was a kid they used gas and air with one of those horrible masks (which stank of rubber) over your nose and mouth.

You're well lucky to have survived so long without using a dentist. I'm frightened even when I make the appointment for a check-up!

Evening all,

I've had a stay of execution from the dentist, he checked my x rays at today's appointment (for the first time) and told me what is going to happen, I'm back in for another appointment this Friday to have three teeth filled and then he is referring me to hospital to have two wisdom teeth and two molars extracted at once which will be in about 3 or 4 weeks (Ouch!). Nothing was done in my mouth today so I went to my voluntary job and only got back an hour ago.
Now I can concentrate on the "Joint Effort" which I am quite excited about this month.
Get ready for your words guys and gals.
I will be posting the first preamble to give you all an idea of what is gonna happen and then a full explanation on publication. I will be doing this on a new thread so it won't be missed by our fellow setters/peers.

Take care, Les40
