i came to these late and really struggled.
i gave in to looking at other peoples answers, (the Sir Alec G, was worth keeping for an occasion).
not sure how many i would have got.

Thanks all (too many to name) for the very kind comments. I feel quite embarrassed. All very well solved. Must just mention P@'s early solving of no. 5. Well done kiddo!

No. 3 was, indeed, MONEY-SPINNERS. coin = money; tellers = spinners (of tales) and the main def is straight from Chambers. (all this well explained by the solvers).

Glad they were not a 'pushover' this week.
