Just missing some word play on the last two.

Test = Examination

Old mate = EX
Race = NATION
Can't see the middle bit.

11a) It is planted in vinyards and it bears fruit (6) - - - R - S

Any idea on the other, I looked up Longchamp and can't see anything that connects

I see it now, ami is derived from French for friend and Longchamp is French
